A dietitian is a food and nutrition expert. Dietitians go to school for many years to become registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or an RD. The state of Texas requires that dietitians are licensed by the state, or an LD. Dietitians are committed to helping you enjoy a healthy life by making informed food choices and by developing sound eating and physical activity habits. Dietitians can be seen for weight loss, eating disorders, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular issues, just to name a few.
When you visit with a dietitian, they go over your dietary habits and help you to look at healthier eating patterns. Meal plans, portion control, BMI, and exercise are some of the topics that the dietitian covers in your visit. Many disease states, such as diabetes, can be improved through an optimal diet.
